Story Summary
What do the Sopranos, Stephen Colbert, Ric Ocasek and Rick Springfield have in common. Um... Really not much... but they are referenced in one way or another today!
|
Anyone else think that the whole Tony Soprano/Kevin Finnerty thing was really about the Duke Lacrosse rape case.
Also, last night My buddy Beers texted (txt'd?) me regarding The Cars' Ric Ocasek was on Colbert Report last night... and that he put Todd Rundgren on NOTICE! Of course... we are aware that the New Cars features Upper Darby's Todd Rundgren as the front man of the new group. But... um not sure.. the pop culture savvy Report fans got the joke. It seemed to fall quiet on the audience. EVEN the J. Geils reference fell flat.
Without a set-up that joke fell. It's the antithesis to the Conan O'Brien rule which is to take 5 minutes to set up a joke. Sometimes you have to some balance. Colbert missed a great one though. A RARE miss...
And finally... A POW that made my voice SORE and RAW... as what arrived in my mail box today??? No, it wasn't "Million Dollar Baby" and "The Maltese Falcon" from Netflix... it was of course... Gold... 80s Gold! that is...
It was tough to decide which disc to open first... But I went with: THE MORE HITS bonus disc!!! *** Pause *** POW!!! Honky's Ladder on the iPod... *** Un Pause ***This disc is actually almost worth the it's weight in 80s Gold!!! "Drive" By the Cars... Crowded House... "Our House" by Madness... Rick James (where I sang a Mash-up version with "Can't Touch This" in the car.) I'm thinking of putting video cameras in my car to capture such moments. That and to document that there are times I have actually made out with women in my car! NO really it has happened!!!
