Fantasy Football

Week 6 allowed me to even up records in both leagues.? First in my Yahoo! league, I led 36 to 29 going into Monday night's game with Issac Bruce starting and my opponent was finished for the weekend. Issac Bruce finished with 1 catch for 11 yards.? In my FFNation league, that would be 2.1 points, in Yahoo, nothing.? Next year I'm going to do a "free" custom league.?

?

Priest Holmes once again proves his fantasy worth. Donovan McNabb had no touchdowns which hurt.? I started one guy on a bye and 3 others with zero points.

Apollo's Creed (3-3)

Week 6 was a great win.? I evened my record to 3 and 3 and defeated a team that had put up 136, 156, and 113 points the last 3 weeks.?? My opponent had 28.90 points left on the bench, but that would have only given him a net 17.30 points which wouldn't have given him a victory.? I left 16.80 points on the bench for a net of 10.80 points.? Fortunately it didn't hurt me this week.? You can't blame him for not starting Andre Davis (2/5).? His starting receivers HammQuotient's were: Rod Smith (4/5), Eric Johnson (4/5), Terrell Owens (4/4).?

Note:? I don't have a HammQuotient for the Yahoo league which puts a high premium on touchdowns but little value for yards gained. (20 yards per point versus 10 yards per point in FFNation.com).

Gridiron Challenge

Interesting week, Donovan and TO couldn't hook up for any touchdowns.? And I average 14.6 points per player.? The winner this week average over 22 points.? This has to be a crap shoot right???? The winner in this league is average 149 points per week.? So my average of 132 in the last 2 weeks shows promise.? I'm looking for big things this next week.? Stay tuned for my picks.

Using the HammQuotient To Analyze a Trade

In many Fantasy leagues you have a trade committees to protect teams from unloading players to better teams when your season is over. Some teams begin to troll the 0-5 teams for their best players and unload decent players who have been mired on your bench. Without a trade committe you might see Freddie Mitchell for Marvin Harrison deals left and right.

However, those who argue against trade committees are usually concerned with certain owners who have it against you, rather than truly analyzing a deal. So what is a boy to do? Well, develop some statistics to give you some insight into how the deal is laid out. Here is a recent trade that caused quite a lot of consternation in our league:

Average per weeks (HammQuotient):
Team A versus Team B
Priest 22.6 (3/4) versus TJ 24.2 (3/4)
Blalock 2.4 (0/5) versus Pinner 7.3 (1/4)
Stallworth 11.6 (3/5) versus C. Johnson 13.9 (2/4)
Keyshawn 11.4 (2/4) versus Gabriel 7.3 (1/4)

Team A's average per week total is 48 versus Team B's (52.7)

The HammQuotient asks the question was it worth starting the player that week? It's a way I like to beat myself over whether I set up my lineups properly that week. Since you're average points per week can be very high, but that is because you scored 40 points one week, but less than 10 the other 3 weeks.

  • If a running back gets over 14.5 points then yes.
  • If a receiver gets over 10.0 points then yes.
  • If a QB gets over 18 points then yes.
  • If a K gets over 7 points then yes.
  • If a DF gets over 12 points then yes.

In the above cases you Team A's HammQuotient in the trade is 8/18 or .421 versus Team B's 7/16 which is a .438.

So my final analysis of the trade at this point in the season is it's pretty fair.

In the above cases you Team A's HammQuotient in the trade is 8/18 or .421 versus Team B's 7/16 which is a .438.

So my final analysis of the trade at this point in the season is it's pretty fair.
