Evangelist Pleads For Andy Reid's Help to Stop Cheerleader Calendar

Evangelist Pleads For Andy Reid's Help to Stop Cheerleader Calendar

So it seems the Christian Right are coming hard at the Philadelphia Eagles for their new Lingerie Calendar. William Devlin, evangelical Christian activist, has decided to go after Andy Reid and appeal to his Mormon background to guilt him into making a stand against the calendar.

Yesterday, Inquirer columnist Phil Sheridan posted his views as a father of two daughters and decried the still tired argument of objectification of women. Look, that argument is so bogus. Look at the money spent on sports. Now while there is certainly a broad range of body types, Men for the most part aren't killing themselves because they don't look like Derek Jeter or Terrel Owens.

No don't get me wrong, I'm as lecherous as the next guy. And if you listen to today's Proof of Concept podcast, you will hear me spend 5 minutes giving play by play of the Eagles Lingerie party. The Eagles are certainly aware of the controversy. The Eagles own website includes a warning about age appropriate content when clicking to the Cheerleader section. But in the end they are profiting from the sales. The calendar can be pre-ordered here. And isn't that all that matters. A poll on Philly.com, shows that 65 percent believe the Eagles should continue to produce the calendar. And a sampling of my friends say the calendar is great, but they just want T.O. back in camp and a Super Bowl. So maybe, that's all that matters?
