The Phillies are 2.5 games back of the Mets. ANd in the last 10 games have gained virtually no ground. Pat Burrell has also been benched 5 out of the last 8 games. When pressed on why he has benched Pat Burrell the $13 Million man and whether his salary would have an affect on who plays or not.
"I can do anything I want to," Manuel said. "Seriously, in this job, I can do anything I want to do. That can cause a lot of stuff, but I can do what I want to do. I can and I've got the [guts] to do whatever I want to do."
